Y2K Itinerary ============= 1. We have reserved 3 rooms at the Best Western for the 27th. There will be a slide show. 2. We have 5 nights at the Asulkan Cabin, the 28th to 1st. We will need to purchase parking passes. We do not need backcountry passes since we're already paying for the hut. The Roger's Pass centre is open 7am to 5pm daily. 3. We meet with the guide, Jim Bay of Mountain Light Tours, at the cafeteria of the Roger's Pass Centre at 7:30am on the 28th. Let's get there earlier at 7:15 to get the parking passes. We should be all set to go, with skins already on our skis, etc. We'll do waivers, equipment check, and a transceiver exercise before driving off to the trailhead. 3. We ski out on the 2nd. Corinne, Tom, Christine, Ben, & Nat will ski out early and take the rental car to Banff. Corinne will take a bus to Calgary to catch her 4:00pm flight. BTW, there is a 1 hr time difference from GNP to Calgary. 4. . Cars: ==== Phil, Amos, Eric, Tom (rental). Arrivals ======== Vancouver: --------- - Phil arrives in Seattle at on the 26th at 1:05pm and will drive to Vancouver. - Mike arrives in Vancouver on the 26th at 7:05pm and will be picked up at the airport by Phil. - Matt arrives in Seattle on the 26th at 1:19pm and meets Phil. - Tammie arrives in Vancouver on the 26th at 9:20pm. => These 4 will stay at Tammie's on the 26th and drive to the GNP in Phil's truck. Calgary: ------- - Amos is already in Calgary. Will meet others at the airport on the 27th. - Eric is driving up from Salt Lake City. Will meet others at the airport on the 27th. - Lukas arrives on the 27th at 10:50am. - Corinne, Ben, Nat, Tom & Christine arrive on the 27th at 11am. => That's 8 people heading to Roger's Pass from the Calgary airport, probably with 3 cars (Amos, Eric, Tom's rental). They should try to get to Roger's Pass before 5pm to get the parking passes so we won't have to waste time with this on the 28th. Post-GNP: ======== - Corinne flys out from Calgary on the 2nd at 4pm. - Tammie takes the bus to Vancouver on the 3rd from Roger's Pass. - Tom and Christine fly out from Calgary on the 3rd at 11:45am. - Ben flys out from Calgary on the 5th at 11:45am. - Nat flys out from Calgary on the 8th. - Phil, Lukas, Matt, Mike, Eric, Amos (and Ben & Nat?) will do some stuff in the Rockies/interiorBC for a few days. We'll need to decide if we should bring crampons, ice axes, ropes, etc. In the middle of the week, Ben flys back to Mtl, Nat visits friends in the area, Eric drives back to SLC, Amos returns to his studies, and Phil, Lukas, Matt, & Mike head to the coast. Mike, Lukas, and Matt fly out on the 9th/10th. Mike: 10:50pm on Sunday the 9th from Vancouver. Lukas: 6:50am on Monday the 10th from Vancouver. Matt: 11:55am on Sunday the 9th from Seattle. Food for GNP: ============ o There are 5 group dinners (28th to 1st) and 5 group breakfasts (29th to 2nd). o Bring your own stuff for the breakfast on the 28th at the Best Western. o We'll split into 2 food groups: East (5) : Tom, Christine, Ben, Corinne, Nat West (7) : Phil, Tammie, Eric, Amos, Lukas, Matt, Mike. o Group West is vegetarian. o Each dinner should have soup, main course, and dessert. o Each group will prepare an extra half-person worth of food for the guide. That's for the first 2 dinners and breakfasts. o We'll need extra drink, dessert, and snacks for New Year's Eve. The New Year's Eve dessert makers are encouraged to impress us by preparing the desserts at the cabin, rather than packing something pre-made.
